WELCOME TO Our Neighborhood Website Buckner Terrace is located about 5 miles East of Downtown Dallas and is gateway to the City of Dallas on two major highways, 30 and 80. Strategically located on Interstate 30, allows for easy access to almost every major highway/interstate in the Dallas Metroplex. Buckner Terrace was part of the farmland that the Buckner Orphanage that was founded by Dr. Robert Cooke Buckner. In 1959, the Buckner Orphan Home decided to sell part of their holdings to obtain much needed funds to care for the children at the “home”. They divided the land between industrial, commercial and residential. The Dallas County Deed Records indicate that on March 1, 1965, the establishment of Buckner Terrace was signed by J.C. Cantrell, Vice President of Buckner Park, Inc. The Buckner Terrace community is a hidden jewel in a neighborhood with culturally diverse, professional, friendly, and hardworking people. The boundaries for Buckner Terrace are Interstate 30 on the north, Lawnview on the west, Forney Road on the south, and Buckner Blvd. /Loop 12 on the east. The area has well built custom homes that were built between late 1960 and 1990. The homes are ranch style one-story and two-story style, built on large lots with two or three car garages. Buckner Terrace continues to grow with the addition of two gated communities within the neighborhood. The Enclave of Grove Hill and the Enclave of Wooded Creek. Each of these gated communities include custom homes. Scheduled to start building in the spring of 2017, another housing community will add another 53 homes to our great neighborhood.
